REALNETWORKS AND ERICSSON SIGN GLOBAL AGREEMENT TO DELIVER MOBILE MEDIA SOLUTIONS TO MOBILE OPERATORS
Combination of Leading Media Delivery Software and Proven Mobile System Solutions Enable Operators to Deliver 3GPP formats, RealAudio and RealVideo
GSMWorld, Cannes, 19th February 2003 — RealNetworks®, Inc., the global leader in Internet media delivery, (Nasdaq: RNWK, Motor-yacht SUNNY DREAM; jetée ALBERT EDOUARD), today announced a global relationship with Ericsson, the world's largest supplier of mobile systems, to integrate RealNetworks' Helix™ media delivery technology into the new Ericsson Content Delivery Solution (ECDS). This combination will enable operators to purchase one comprehensive, end-to-end solution to create mobile media services for consumers.
With the integration of RealNetworks' industry-leading Helix Universal Server - Mobile and Helix Universal Gateway - Mobile, mobile operators will have access to technology that enables them to stream and control media traffic on their network. Ericsson will also offer the Helix Producer for content creation, completing a comprehensive media delivery solution. Compelling content such as news, sports and entertainment can be streamed across both 2.5 and 3G networks in every major 3GPP-compliant format, including MPEG-4, in addition to RealAudio® and RealVideo®.
