OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM REALNETWORKS, INC.

Seattle, WA - (March 9, 2004) — RealNetworks®, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNWK) announced today that it has filed suit against Major League Baseball Advanced Media L.P. (MLBAM) in federal court in order to enforce a new contract entered into between the parties in February 2004 that requires MLBAM to make its Internet broadcasts of live baseball games on MLB.com available in RealNetworks media format. RealNetworks is also seeking a temporary restraining order for immediate enforcement of the contract. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington at Seattle.

RealNetworks has worked with MLBAM since the beginning of the 2001 season to broadcast baseball games over the Internet. Regrettably, MLBAM has refused to provide its live audio and video game broadcasts on MLB.com in RealNetworks format, forcing RealNetworks to file this suit to require MLBAM to perform its obligations to the letter and spirit of our contract. RealNetworks looks forward to resolving this matter quickly and serving baseball fans.
