REALNETWORKS ANNOUNCES 13 NEW VERSIONS OF REALPLAYER FOR LINUX AND MAC OS X FOR EUROPE AND ASIA
New Distribution Agreement with Leading Linux Developer in Asia Solidifies RealPlayer as the Top Media Player for Linux Desktop; Points to Another Development Success for Helix Community
LONDON, U.K. — October 6, 2004 — RealNetworks® (Nasdaq: RNWK), said today it has released its award-winning RealPlayer® 10 for Linux in nine new European and Asian languages, and RealPlayer 10 for Mac OS X in four new language versions, thereby extending RealPlayer’s role as the platform enabling content creators to reach consumers via the greatest variety of operating systems and devices.
Real also announced that Red Flag Software, a leading desktop Linux provider in Asia, has licensed RealPlayer 10 for distribution with its Linux desktop, solidifying the role of RealPlayer as the leading media player for Linux. RealPlayer has already been chosen by leading Linux providers including Novell, Red Hat, Sun Microsystems and Turbolinux for use on Linux PCs, and was selected by Motorola for inclusion in Motorola’s Linux-based mobile handsets. Analysts predict that more than 9 million Linux PCs will ship globally in 2004, making it the second most widely adopted operating system for the PC.

RealPlayer 10 for Linux is immediately available in the following languages and corresponding markets: English (North America and U.K.), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish as well as Chinese (Simplified and Traditional). RealNetworks today also announced the immediate availability of the free version of RealPlayer 10 for Mac OS X in four additional versions: French, German, Japanese and Spanish. The newest RealPlayer for the Macintosh operating system gives Mac consumers the power to enjoy hours of audio and video content in many of the leading Internet media formats, with the added convenience and power of an integrated browser window, advanced video controls and a graphic equalizer.
