REALNETWORKS LAUNCHES MAC OS X ENCODING SOLUTION AND FINAL VERSION OF REALPRODUCER PLUS 10

Real 10 Export Plug-in Enables Content Export in RealAudio and RealVideo Directly From Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Avid Xpress Pro, and More

Availability of Commercial-Grade RealProducer Plus 10 Enables Content Creators and Broadcasters to Encode and Deliver in Quality-Leading RealAudio 10 and RealVideo 10

National Association of Broadcasters Show 2004, Las Vegas — April 20, 2004 — RealNetworks®, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNWK), today unveiled a beta version of its new Real™ 10 Export Plug-in for Mac OS X. The Real 10 Export Plug-in enables video editors for the first time to export high-quality RealAudio® 10 and RealVideo® 10 formats directly from Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Avid Xpress Pro and more. Support for additional applications, including Adobe Premiere and Discreet Cleaner is expected this summer.

Whether developing content for mainstream, corporate, event or other broadcast purpose; content authors now can prepare their content for Internet streaming in industry-leading RealVideo 10 directly from their preferred non-linear editors, saving several steps in a typical workflow. A beta version of the Real 10 Export Plug-in is available today for free download at, http://www.realnetworks.com/info/real10export/.

"Real’s new Real 10 Export Plug-in helps streamline our video production workflow by enabling our editors to create content in the popular RealVideo and RealAudio formats directly from the Final Cut Pro 4 timeline," said Laurie Silvers, President of Hollywood Media Corp. (Nasdaq: HOLL). "RealVideo files can then be streamed to producers in other cities for review."

RealNetworks today also released the final version of RealProducer® Plus 10, the premier broadcasting solution for media professionals to encode and deliver their content in RealAudio 10 with AAC, and RealVideo 10.

"The excitement and positive embrace we have experienced from content creators, media companies and consumers for the quality breakthroughs in Real 10 since our beta launch in January 2004 has been remarkable," said Dave Richards, vice president, Business Products and Services, RealNetworks, Inc. "We are pleased to now extend Real 10 to the Mac creative community to provide Mac OS X users with the same great digital audio and video quality break-throughs using their favorite editing tools."

"We are excited to be offering Movielink content, including new releases and classic films in RealVideo 10," said Alan Citron, senior vice president, Movielink. "When consumers watch a film from Movielink, whether a Hollywood blockbuster, independent, or classic film on their TV or their PC, they want the best quality - and RealVideo 10 delivers it."

"Delivering content in RealVideo 10 and RealAudio 10 ensures that our customers benefit from the best possible multimedia experience when watching and listening to ABCNews.com programming using RealPlayer 10," said Bernard Gershon, senior vice president and general manager, ABC News Digital Media Group.

Launched by RealNetworks earlier this year, RealAudio 10 includes support of the standards-based AAC codec for high fidelity consumer music services, discrete multichannel audio for true 5.1 audio experiences, as well as lossless compression technology for archiving. Also launched in 2004, RealVideo 10 offers a break-through 30% improvement in efficiency over RealVideo 9, enabling DVD quality video at approximately 1 megabit per second, and HDTV-quality video at approximately 5 megabits per second.
