RealNetworks Foundation Donates $50,000 to Medical Teams International for Haiti Earthquake Relief

RealNetworks Foundation today announced a $50,000 donation to Portland-based Medical Teams International (MTI) in support of its earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

Foundation President, Rob Glaser, made the announcement today saying that the enormity of the devastation increased the urgency of the emergency grant.

"Millions of people are suffering the loss of their homes and loved ones and this crisis will only worsen without a massive, coordinated response. We are fortunate to have experts in our area, such as those at Medical Teams International, who can mobilize resources so quickly and efficiently. We're proud to partner with them."

A response team from MTI left Seattle today bound for Haiti with enough supplies to treat about 12,000 people. The next team, including orthopedic surgeons, leaves on Sunday to treat those who have been seriously injured by collapsing buildings.

In addition to charitable grants, the Foundation matches Real employee contributions up to $10,000 per year ($5,100 for employees of Rhapsody America) and recently launched a program that matches employee volunteer time as well.
