Reduced Latency — TrueLive and PlayNow
Two new features, TrueLive and PlayNow are designed to improve the experience for your audience by dramatically reducing buffering. TrueLive reduces delay in live events — live latency — via RTSP pipelining and improved response times for RTSP messages. PlayNow, on the other hand, decreases start-up delays for on-demand content via system-level changes. With PlayNow, you can tune the system to achieve 2-4 seconds of latency in low latency mode and 4-8 seconds for higher reliability, low latency mode. Both of these features require you to use Version 11 of the RealProducer, Helix Server and RealPlayer.

RealProducer features ‘encoding complexity modes’ for RealVideo that let you easily balance encoding time and image quality. Lower-complexity modes are the quickest route to industry-leading RealVideo, while the new high-complexity mode offers previously unobtainable levels of RealVideo quality.
Dynamic Encoding Complexity Control
Creating video is a processor-intensive task, no matter what the format. RealProducer can automatically and dynamically adjust the encoding complexity mode during a real-time encoding session to ensure that the computer’s processors are used most efficiently.

De-interlace Filter — Removes "artifacts" that can be introduced when encoding NTSC or PAL formatted video for broadband RealVideo.
Inverse Telecine Filter — Removes extra frames added when content has been converted from film to digital video.

Advanced Broadcasting Functionality — new broadcasting options include 'Multicast', which conserves bandwidth and increases redundancy and scalability by sending a single broadcast to multiple servers at once. 'Pull Broadcasting' lets Helix Server start a broadcast from RealProducer when RealPlayer users have requested the broadcast stream. 'Server Reconnect' automatically reconnects the broadcasting RealProducer and receiving Helix Server in the event if the connection is lost.
