RealNetworks Gives Handset and Tablet OEMs Ability to Deliver HTTP Live Content to Android Users

IBC Conference, AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — September 10, 2010— RealNetworks®, Inc. (RNWK), the digital entertainment services company, announced from IBC that RealPlayer for Mobile will now include HTTP Live Streaming for Android, making it the first mobile media player to allow Android users to watch content typically intended for the iPhone, iPod and iPad.

Building from Real's legacy of innovation in the delivery of digital content, HTTP Live Streaming for Android takes content created for Apple's HTTP Live streaming protocol and makes it playable on Android devices. By adopting this new feature of RealPlayer for Mobile, handset, tablet and CE OEMs can easily expand the amount of content played by their Android devices. Video content encoded for HTTP Live will play seamlessly on Android devices, so content creators can encode once and reach both Apple and Android users.
